Islanders earn recognition in Scholastic Art Awards show

Artistic talent and creativity is present at Grand Island Senior High as several art students were recently recognized in the state Scholastic Art Awards.

Twenty-three pieces of art and one senior portfolio earned recognition, including six students who earned Gold Key awards.

Art teacher Micki Nuss said her students continue to amaze her.

“They continue to impress me with their skill sets and creative ideas every single day,” Nuss said.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards were founded in 1923 and aim to inspire bold ideas in creative teens throughout the country.
