"On Track to Thrive" - Kicking-Off the '22-'23 School Year

Hello, Grand Island Public Schools Families!

We have officially kicked-off the '22-'23 school year!  I've been out to our campuses and I am just thrilled at the excitement and energy that we see all across our district.

We want to express our extreme gratitude to you, as well as our community, for all of the support that you have provided Grand Island Public Schools.

This year, we are continuing to see growth within our school district.  And we are welcoming one of our largest Freshman classes ever with having more than 730 students!

As we move forward throughout the school year, we are definitely On Track to Thrive and ready to lift our strategic plan.  We are seeing evidence that we are heading in the right direction:

  • Our literacy scores are rising.

  • We also see an increase in the number of students that are taking advantage of Advanced Placement classes as well as earning Dual Credit while they are in still high school.

  • In addition, we have certainly increased the number of students that are earning their industry certification.

This is very important for us to honor our Graduate Profile of students being college, career, and community ready.

The success that we are experiencing in Grand Island Public Schools — it is a collaborative effort.  We want to thank all of our staff members for ensuring that we were able to reach our goal of having 100% of our classrooms covered across GIPS.

As we move forward, we are ready to have a bold year because we are #BoldlyGIPS.

We invite you to continue to join us on the journey!
